San Mateo County Emergency Eviction Moratorium protects 1) all residents of San Mateo County 2) who live in a rental unit of all types, including single family home, apartment, a room, or un-permitted garage, 3) and cannot pay rent because of COVID-19. Tenants must activate legal protections - If you are having trouble paying rent due to COVID-19, write your landlord NOW. Save documentation showing that you lost income related to COVID-19 and send copies to your landlord. Landlords must send tenants written notice of the moratorium protections.
