Over 88 percent of Menlo Park’s police employees have completed mindfulness training over the past two years. The training prepares first responders to take on the occupational stressors and trauma of their profession. It began in 2016 when Menlo Park’s then-police chief, Robert Jonsen, was presented with the idea for mindfulness training geared for law enforcement. Thursday, March 28, the Belle Haven Child Development Center will host students from Beechwood School for big buddy, little buddy reading time. Beechwood School second-graders will read various short stories to the preschoolers. Wednesday, April 3, Off the Grid returns to Menlo Park, offering residents a taste of the Bay Area’s top food truck vendors. San Francisco-based Off the Grid hosts vibrant events with live music and street food that create a unique community experience throughout the region. Although every day at the City’s gymnastics program is “super hero day,” everyone enjoyed celebrating March 11-16 as Super Hero Week. Instructors all sported personally designed capes with their favorite super hero emblems.
