Senior Center Walkathon

The Menlo Park Senior Center will be having its 8th Walkathon to promote healthy habits and exercise on Friday, August 3, from 10:00 a.m.noon at Kelly Park. This event is one of the many fundraisers we do for the Center. This year, we will team up with children from the summer camp, who will walk with our seniors as buddies. Also, in collaboration with Stanford Hospital we will be doing our warm up exercises and Mills Peninsula Senior Focus will be conducting blood tests. Be sure to enter the raffle for an Automatic Wheelchair and more! Registration to participate is $12. The fee includes refreshments, t-shirt for the first 60 participants and a light lunch.

National Night Out

National Night Out (NNO) is a time to celebrate partnerships between law enforcement agencies and local neighborhoods. NNO s celebrated nationwide and is a community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and crime prevention. It enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. This year’s NNO events will be held next week Tuesday, August 7. Please join the Belle Haven neighborhood in this fun and engaging event at Hamilton Park - 605 Hamilton Ave - 3:307:30 PM. Police staff will attend to meet and mingle with residents and hand out some cool giveaways. Fremont Park

Join us downtown on August 9 from 6:30–8:00 p.m. as we wrap up Summer Concerts at Fremont Park! This is your last chance to see a concert at Fremont Park this summer! Haulin' Oats is a tribute to the legendary Daryl Hall and John Oates. Formed out of the sheer need for more Hall and more Oates and a mutual respect for one of the greatest catalogs of music ever written and composed. Summer Concert Series - Kelly Park

August 15: Pellejo Seco is sometimes described as a world fusion band, because you can hear a hint of flamenco there, a smidge of hip-hop there. “I’ve tried to stay outside of jazz,” composer and tresero Ivan Camblor says, “to conserve the son tradition. As a composer I want to concentrate on that.

August 22:  Lead by guitarist, composer and music teacher Sebastian Monreal, Monreal Latin Jazz is a quintet that explores different rhythms and styles of Central and South America.

August 29: This is your last chance to see a concert this summer! William Russ Jr., the Detroit born, bred and raised singer commands a voice as soothing as a cool summer breeze and as comforting as a loving embrace. You will be gently glided from song to song by a voice that is incredibly smooth as it is inviting.Will Russ Jr. creates a seduction of soulful interpretations and brilliant vocal arrangements that will hypnotically caress you and have you falling in Love over and over again.

Downtown Block Party

The 12th Annual Menlo Park Block Party is August 16 from 5:30–8:00 p.m. and is sponsored by the City of Menlo Park, Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce, and Facebook. Bring friends, family and neighbors to enjoy the sights, sounds and vibrant energy on Santa Cruz Avenue. The event will be filled with live music, kids activities, food and fun!

This year we are celebrating "Summer Nights", centered around nostalgic activities and creating memories that last a lifetime! This is an event that is great for the whole family including an area for children's activities, silent disco, classic cars and an array of local businesses hosting information booths. Get ready to dance to live music and fill your bellies with outdoor dining!

Senior Center Beach Dance Party

The Menlo Park Senior Center will be having a Beach Dance Party on Friday, August 17, from noon1:30 p.m. We will be bringing the beach and palm trees to the Senior Center. We host many dances throughout the year, and this is just one of many. There will be DJ playing great music, great food, and so much more! Enjoy dancing with friends and neighbors and indulge in some great food and dessert. Enter to win great raffle prizes and be sure to come in your brightest and most festive beach attire!

Menlo Movie Series

This year's event has been relocated to Burgess Park. The series will feature free outdoor movies in Menlo Park July-September. Be sure to bring a chair, blanket and some snacks to enjoy, but most of all, don't forget to bring your friends and family. Paws for Paws Walk

Bring your furry four-legged friends and your family members to Menlo Park’s 3rd Annual Paws for Paws Walk at beautiful Burgess Park on Saturday, August 25, from 8:00 a.m.1:00.p.m. Paws for Paws benefits the Menlo Park Police Foundation and the Menlo Park Police Department K9 Unit. This is a fun-filled morning, where attendees are invited to browse local pet vendors while their four-legged friends are spoiled with samples of dog treats. Win one of our great raffle prizes by either purchasing raffle tickets or taking a lap around the park. Every lap you complete, you and your pup will receive another ticket! Make sure to stick around after the walk to watch exciting K9 demonstrations by Menlo Park’s finest! Then grab yourself a bite to eat at some of our most popular local food trucks. 

Menlo Park Police
Community Academy

Applications are currently being accepted for the Menlo Park Police Community Academy. The Academy gives our community members firsthand information on how and why the police department operates, and takes a look at the culture of police work and the organization. It provides an excellent opportunity for the public to interact with department members. If you want to learn more about what police officers and staff do every day and are interested in criminal law, forensics or investigations, this is the place for you. The Academy is an eight week program open to ages 18 years and older, and takes place on Wednesdays, starting September 5, 2018 from 6:30–9:30 p.m., and ending October 24, 2018. Menlo Park and Recreation Facilities and Parks Masterplan Update

The Menlo Park City Council will receive an update on the Parks and Recreation Facilities Master Plan during a study session at their meeting on Monday, August 6 at 6:00 p.m. City staff and the project consultant Gates + Associates will present preliminary findings of the Master Plan and a number of emerging ideas including improving accessibility to parks and recreation facilities, inclusivity for all ages and abilities, creating unique and distinctive parks to encouraging use, and maintaining the quality parks and facilities we have currently.
