Summer Puppetry Festival

Celebrate puppetry in its many forms all summer long, by enjoy a series of puppet shows by a variety of performers from throughout the Bay Area and beyond! The Menlo Park Library’s Belle Haven Branch is hosting a Summer Puppetry Festival, kicking off with a “Puppet Slam,” with mini shows by several members of the San Francisco Bay Area Puppeteers Guild. This free event will take place at 2:00 pm, June 3, 2018, at the Belle Haven Branch Library. Our first show start with the classic race of the Tortoise and the Hare. Their race ends on the “Troll Bridge,” waking up the Grumpy Old Troll. The goats must find a way to outwit the troll and get across the bridge so they can enjoy the field of green, green grass. Will they make it?

Parks and Recreation Facilities Master Plan Community Workshop

Come out to Menlo Park Senior Center on Saturday, June 9, 2018 between 10:00 am-Noon for a community workshop, where the City is seeking input on the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Project. Share your thoughts on the current parks, facilities, and recreation programs and bring a neighbor or friend. The outreach event will provide you the space to share your ideas for the future of your parks and recreation programs and facilities. Light refreshments will be served. Children are encouraged to attend and children's activities will be provided. Spanish translations will be available.  

Summer Concert Series:
The Sun Kings

On Wednesday, June 13, 2018, The Sun Kings, a Beatles Tribute Band, is anticipated to draw a large crowd to Fremont Park from 6:30-8:00 pm to kick off the City of Menlo Park’s annual Summer Concert Series presented by Facebook. Since their first concert with us in 2007, The Sun Kings have delighted our community each year with a fabulous collection of Beatles tunes that represent a nostalgic era of music. Full of passion, energy, humor, and professionalism The Sun Kings offer more than great music, but a venue for families to come together and see remarkable talent. Going into their 16th year and considered one of the premier Beatles Tribute acts in the country, The Sun Kings continue to amaze their fans and win over skeptics with their uncanny channeling and respect for the music they perform. The Sun Kings shine in concert with spot-on arrangements and vocal harmonies delivered with a driving energy, joy, and vitality that recall the earliest Beatles performances. Bring a chair, a comfortable blanket and some snacks. This concert is sponsored by Facebook and the McNair Group. Juneteenth BBQ

Come celebrate Juneteenth with us at the Menlo Park Senior Center. Enjoy an afternoon with friends and neighbors Look forward to a home cooked BBQ meal and a showcase featuring local talent. The event will take place June 19, 2018 from Noon-2:00 pm. Advance purchase tickets are $5.00 while tickets purchased the day of the event are $8.00. Spend the day reflecting and  commemorating African American freedom, achievements, and heroism.

Summer Concert Series: Tia Carroll

The Summer Concert Series continue with Tia Carroll. Carroll holds one of the most impressive  entertainment resumes in the Bay Area and has become one of the most sought-after female Blues singers on the West Coast. Carroll has headlined venues and festivals all over the world with her band and has shared stages with legends Ray Charles, Jimmy McCracklin and Sugar Pie DeSanto. She’s earned a reputation for her sizzling stage show, and always generates a buzz whenever she brings her band to town. June 20, 2018 from 6:30-8:00 pm at Fremont Park in Downtown Menlo Park. Emergency Drill

On Saturday, June 23, 2018 between 8:00 am-1:00 pm, join us at Fremont Park for the Menlo Park Community Emergency Drill, "Neighbors Helping Neighbors," a joint community emergency drill with community resident volunteers, organizations and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) first responders. Menlo Park residents are encouraged to participate in the drill (no prior emergency response experience required). At this drill, residents will learn more about how we respond as a community in an emergency and learn how our CERT teams and equipment are used to help our neighbors and neighborhoods. The goal is to better prepare Menlo Park residents in case of a disaster and to improve collaboration between the City, first responders and volunteers during a major emergency. This drill, “Neighbors Helping Neighbors,” is organized by the Menlo Park Fire Protection District's Community Crisis Management Team (CCM-CERT), in cooperation with the City of Menlo Park, and Menlo Park Police Department.

Fog City Swampers

The Fog City Swampers have been rocking Northern California and beyond since 2003. The band puts on a high energy show that's sure to get people moving on the dance floor. Expect to hear classics by artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd, CCR, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Cash, Fleetwood Mac, and many more. If you like live music, come on down and be a part of the Swamp show! Join us June 27, 2018 from 6:30-8:00 pm at Fremont Park in Downtown Menlo Park. Fourth of July Parade & Celebration

Bring the entire family downtown on July 4, 2018 for the City of Menlo Park’s Annual Fourth of July Parade & Celebration! The Parade starts at 11:45 am on Chestnut Street next to Wells Fargo. Come dressed in red, white, & blue and decorate your bike or wagon to participate in this fun-filled people parade! The Celebration is at Burgess Park starting directly after the parade from Noon-2:30 pm. Enjoy our annual celebration with live music, carnival games, jump houses, rock walls, crafts, face painting, tot lot, putt putt golf, disco dome, food and more!
Come enjoy live music performed by Mustache Harbor. A $8.00 wristband is required for some activities and can be purchased in advance by going to the Arrillaga Family Gymnasium (600 Alma Street) Mon-Fri 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Wristband sales will be available at the Parade and Celebration, but expect long lines so participants are encouraged to buy wristbands in advance.

Looking for a fun and rewarding way to give back to the Menlo Park Community? This years Fourth of July Parade and Celebration is going to see a great turn out and a day filled with family fun. Many of the days events are run entirely by volunteers, so we need your help to make it possible. Your help at just one activity throughout the day will help make this event possible for thousands of people and continue to allow this event grow each year.
