Lily Liu Guzheng Benefit Concert

Enjoy an uplifting night filled with the performing arts and culture at the Guzheng Benefit Concert for Neighbors Abroad. This special event on Oct. 7, 2017 from 7:00-9:00 pm at the Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center. It features a mixture of Western and Eastern culture through musical performances on the Guzheng (an ancient Chinese instrument with over 2,500 years of history), Piano, Violin, and Flute, as well as demonstrations of Tai Chi and Dance. This event is organized by Lily Liu, a Senior at Gunn High school. Students from both Palo Alto high schools will be contributing their efforts into this concert. All donations and net proceeds will go to non-profit organization Neighbors Abroad. 

Frozen Sing-Along!

Back by popular demand, the City of Menlo Park presents the Frozen Sing-along! on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center. Dress up as Elsa, Kristoff, or your favorite Frozen Character! Meet Anna and Olaf as they bring Frozen to life right before your eyes! Sing-along events are presented with a pre-show introduction including explanation of the sing-along elements. Enjoy a special fun pack to help you interact with the movie, costume contest, prizes and fun giveaways. Discounts available for advance purchase and space is limited. 

Vellamo: Finnish Folk Pop Duo

On Oct. 21, 2017 at 11:00 am the Menlo Park Library will host a free concert, all the way from Finland, the Finnish pop folk music duo Vellamo. They will play their own compositions, and also perform ballads from the Finnish, Celtic and Scandinavian folk traditions. Their music is characterized by haunting melodies, ethereal vocals, and virtuosic guitar styling The free event is funded by the Friends of the Menlo Park Library, and will take place in the Menlo Park City Council Chambers.

Spooky Carnival

Goblins, ghouls, and ghosts! Join us for an evening of Halloween fun at the Onetta Harris Community Center on Oct. 26, 2017 from 4:00-6:00 pm. The Spooky Carnival features Halloween-inspired carnival games and activities, games and snacks at this free event so don't miss out on all the spooky fun! Remember to win your Halloween costume for a chance to compete in the costume contests! 

Pumpkin Decorating at the Library

A sensory-friendly event perfect for our loved ones who need a supportive and quite environment while still experiencing the joy of Halloween! Pumpkins, paints, and crafts will be waiting for you when you sign up for Pumpkin Decorating at the Menlo Park Library on Oct. 28, 2017  from 10:30 am-3:00 pm. There will be two sessions, divided by age group. Ages 2-6 from 10:30 am-Noon and ages 7-11 from 1:30-3:00 pm. Registration opens on October 7 and space is limited. The library will provide all of the craft supplies--and the pumpkin! You bring your imagination and an art smock or old t-shirt!. 

Halloween Hoopla

Put on your Halloween costume and parade through downtown Menlo Park at our annual Halloween Hoopla Parade & Trick-or-Treat on Oct. 28, 2017 from 11:00 am-2:00 pm. Participants are welcome to come in costume and participate in the annual parade through downtown Menlo Park to Fremont Park. Led by a band comprised of music students from La Entrada and Hillview Middle Schools, the parade will start in the Maloney Street parking lot off Santa Cruz Avenue. Please meet at the parade start at 11:00 am. After the parade, from 11:30 am-2:00 pm, kids are welcome to trick-or-treat to local downtown merchants. Be mystified with magic by Marshall Magoon and dance and sing to a spooktacular musical show with Happily Ever Laughter. Also enjoy carnival games, family activities and crafts sponsored by Cheeky Monkey Toys. Free trick or treat bags will available at Fremont Park for all children.
