Police host a child safety seat installation and inspection event

As part of a California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) grant, the police department is hosting a child safety seat installation and inspection event to provide traffic safety education Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Burgess Park parking lot located at 701 Laurel Street. Residents are encouraged to bring their vehicle with their car seats to this FREE event. Certified child safety seat technicians will be on hand to assist with checking for recalls, proper fit and help with correct seat installation...Click to continue

The popularity of police canine "Duke" continues to grow

In May 2016, the police department welcomed to the team a narcotic detection dog for use in Menlo Park Police’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU). Sergeant Ed Soares and his canine, “Duke,” a Doberman are a K-9 team that attended a three week basic service dog handler’s course, which focuses on narcotic detection work, and vehicle and building searches. The City was thrilled to host a ribbon cutting for new sidewalks on Santa Cruz Avenue Thursday, Aug. 31! The project represents incredible efforts of collaboration and patience by all those involved in construction, including 54 residences, St. Raymond’s Church & School community and Menlo Park City School District partners. Residents and school staff, parents, and children dealt with construction impacts over the last year, and everyone’s patience and awareness kept travelers safe throughout the construction...Click to continue

Goodbye summer camp and hello after school

“Menlo Palooza” summer camp wrapped up the summer program with an end of summer fiesta Aug. 18. At this event, the children participated in many fun activities at the summer fiesta including a large slide jumper, mariachi photo booth, piñatas, popcorn, cotton candy and nachos for lunch. Then, on Aug. 24, the After School program was ready to welcome 75 children from four of the local Menlo Park elementary schools. It was great to see so many smiling faces returning and to welcome our new friends to the program...Click to continue
