New Bus Shelter Installed in Belle Haven Neighborhood

Menlo Park is getting new bus shelters! On Saturday, July 22, 2017, SamTrans installed a new bus shelter to serve the Belle Haven community. The shelter is along SamTrans route 281 at Market Place Park on Market Place near Alpine Avenue. This stop also serves San Mateo County’s Park Shuttle. The City has also recently ordered two additional shelters and is working on the installation details and location specifics. Continued Growth in Land Development Activity

Land development activity has been robust over the last several years and is continuing to grow. Planning and land use entitlement applications are up 8.6 percent for the January to June 2017 time period as compared to an average of the prior three years. But the numbers alone do not tell the full story since all applications are not equal. Government Finance Officers Association Recognizes City's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report

On July 18, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) announced that the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Report was awarded to the City of Menlo Park for its June 30, 2016, comprehensive annual finance report (CAFR).

Performing arts is flourishing in Menlo Park

The long awaited goal of achieving over 55-days use of the Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center (M-A PAC) has been reached! As part of the joint-use agreement with the Sequoia High School District, the City is allotted a minimum of 55 annual program days at the Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center. Construction of the Santa Cruz Avenue Sidewalk project is almost done. Thank-you for your patience as staff worked hard to build this important improvement while keeping traffic moving and keeping the public safe. The last major item to complete is repaving the street. The repaving work is scheduled to begin Wednesday, August 9, 2017, and complete Friday, August 11, 2017. Enjoy an evening of socializing, meeting and greeting your neighbors, public officials and police staff Tuesday, Aug. 1, for National Night Out (NNO) between 5-9 p.m. This National Night Out is shaping up to be a great event like last year where several Menlo Park neighborhoods will be hosting outdoor gatherings. Burgess Park field reopening

The opening of the playing fields in Burgess Park is moving forward as scheduled, today, Friday July 28, 2017, at 8 a.m. The fields have had limited public access since June 5, 2017, in order to perform the regularly scheduled maintenance work necessary to keep the fields in their best shape. Sports fields throughout the City are on a rotating 8-week closure schedule for maintenance. The closure allows for restoration and repair that it needs from heavy use associated with ongoing sports activities throughout the remainder of the year.
