National Night Out

National Night Out is an annual nationwide event, being held on August 1, 2017 from 6:00-9:00 pm, that encourages residents to get out in the community, holding block parties and getting to know their neighbors as a way to encourage crime prevention. It's a great way to promote community-police partnerships and enjoy a Menlo Park summer evening surrounded by friends and family. This year there will be several neighborhoods hosting outdoor gatherings with block parties throughout Menlo Park. 


Summer Concert Series - Fremont Park

Join us downtown on Wednesdays from 6:30–8:00 pm for our last two Summer Concerts at Fremont Park!  

August 2, 2017: E-Ticket  is a popular seven piece rock & roll dance band that has been entertaining folks throughout the SF Bay Area since 1985, mixing upbeat dance tunes that bring back fond memories.This concert is sponsored by Harrell Remodeling.

August 9, 2017: This is your last chance to see a concert at Fremont Park this summer. Aja Vu is a San Francisco-based band that performs the music of Steely Dan.The Aja Vu show recreates the combination of rock, jazzy blues and unique storytelling that has made the Steely Dan sound endure throughout pop culture for 30+ years. This concert is sponsored by Anette Smith with Golden Gate Sotheby's.

Summer Concert Series - Kelly Park

Join us at Kelly Park on Tuesdays from 6:30–8:00 pm as our Summer Concert Series continues.

August 15, 2017: Reyna y su Trio has an extended repertoire which includes many boleros, rancheras, huapangos, corridos, cumbias, and other popular Latin songs. Come enjoy great music and food trucks. 

August 23, 2017:  Southbay Dub Allstars is 10-piece powerhouse with a 3-horn section, over 40 original and cover songs, and 15 years of performances across California & Oregon, continues breaking down barriers with an unstoppable roots reggae vibe and a mix of funk, soul, and pop.

August 29, 2017: This is your last chance to see a concert this summer! Somos El Son is a powerful salsa orchestra based out of San Francisco Bay Area. Braulio Barrera, Peruvian singer/sonero is the band leader & master percussionist who carefully has selected the right combination of music repertoire from classic tunes to original ones.

Downtown Block Party

The 11th Annual Menlo Park Block Party is August 16, 2017 from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm and is sponsored by the City of Menlo Park and the Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce. Bring friends, family and neighbors to enjoy the sights, sounds and vibrant energy on Santa Cruz Avenue. An event that is great for the whole family including an area for children's activities, an array of local businesses hosting information booths, and the chance to test drive the newest transportation technology. Be sure to bring your blankets and lawn chairs, because once the event is over, there will be a special showing of the movie Cars (2006) at 8:30 pm on the Paseo!


2017 Solar Eclipse 

On Monday, August 21, 2017, all of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the sun. The Bay Area is outside the path of totality, where the moon will completely cover the sun—but there’s still plenty to enjoy!  Join us at the Menlo Park Library continues their series of special eclipse-related events. Come learn how eclipses work, when the eclipse will be view able, make an eclipse viewer, experience our own planetarium and join us for the big event and (re)viewing party by attending the following events: 


Aug 1 - Mesoamerica: Pyramids, Hieroglyphs and Planets
Aug 12-20 - Make an Eclipse Viewer
Aug 17 - Xtreme Science Magic: Eclipse, Planetary & Rocket Science
Aug 21 - The Eclipse
Aug 21 - Eclipse (Re)Viewing Party

This series of events is held in partnership with the Friends of the Menlo Park Library. 



Menlo Movie Series

The 2017 Menlo Movie Series will feature free movies in Downtown Menlo Park on Curtis Street from Thursday July 27, 2017 and every Friday from August 4, 2017 through September 22, 2017. Be sure to bring a chair, blanket and some snacks to enjoy, but most of all, don't forget to bring your friends and family. Enjoy a night of watching the stars, under the stars. Mark your calendars!  

7/27 - 8:45 pm - Moana (2016)*
8/4   - 8:30 pm - The Secret Life of Pets (2016)
8/11 - 8:30 pm - The Lego Batman Movie (2017)
8/16 - 8:30 pm - Cars (2006)**
