Fourth of July Parade & Celebration

Bring the entire family downtown on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 for the City of Menlo Park’s Annual Fourth of July Parade & Celebration! The Parade starts at 11:45 am on Chestnut Street next to Wells Fargo. Come dressed in red, white, & blue and decorate your bike or wagon to participate in this fun-filled people parade! The Celebration is at Burgess Park starting directly after the parade from Noon-2:30 pm. Activities will include inflatable jump houses, giant slides, games, crafts, face painting, rock walls and food! Come enjoy live music performed by Pop Fiction. A $7.00 wristband is required for some activities and can be purchased in advance by going to the Arrillaga Family Gymnasium (600 Alma Street) Mon-Fri 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Wristband sales will be available at the Parade and Celebration, but expect long lines so participants are encouraged to buy wristbands in advance. Summer Concert Series: Tom Rigney & Flambeau

The Summer Concert Series welcomes back Tom Rigney & Flambeau in their high energy live show featuring tight ensemble playing, deeply infectious grooves, and rich soloing. Flambeau specializes in fiery Cajun and zydeco two-steps, low-down blues, funky New Orleans grooves, and heartbreakingly beautiful ballads and waltzes. The repertoire is original, eclectic, passionate, and filled with a musical and emotional intensity. July 12, 2017 from 6:30-8:00 pm at Fremont Park in Downtown Menlo Park. Bring a chair, a comfortable blanket, and some snacks. 

2017 Solar Eclipse 

On Monday, August 21, 2017, all of North America will be treated to an eclipse of the sun. The Bay Area is outside the path of totality, where the moon will completely cover the sun—but there’s still plenty to enjoy!  Join us at the Menlo Park Library for a series of special eclipse-related events from July 13 to August 21, 2017. Come learn how eclipses work, when the eclipse will be view able, make an eclipse viewer, experience our own planetarium and join us for the big event and (re)viewing party by attending the following events:

Aug 1 - Mesoamerica: Pyramids, Hieroglyphs and Planets
Aug 12-20 - Make an Eclipse Viewer
Aug 17 - Xtreme Science Magic: Eclipse, Planetary & Rocket Science
Aug 21 - The Eclipse
Aug 21 - Eclipse (Re)Viewing Party

This series of events is held in partnership with the Friends of the Menlo Park Library. 

Menlo Summerfest

The long, laid-back, lovely days of summer are upon us and the Bay Area’s popular outdoor festival season is in full swing. For a sun-splashed weekend featuring two days of stellar live music, world-class art by 250 of America’s top artists, fabulous food and drink, artisan specialty food purveyors, home and garden exhibits, health and wellness displays, an organic and green products showcase, and tons of fun for kids, head to bustling downtown Menlo Park for Menlo Summerfest, “Hot Fun In The Summertime”, coming up July 15-16, 2017. The Menlo Summerfest is hosted by the Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce. 

Summer Concert Series: Freddy Clarke & Wobbly World

Wobbly World is a group of internationally recognized musicians in a powerful and unique collaboration. Founded by guitarist Freddy Clarke, the music is an ethno-layering of melodic, rhythmic and poetic ideas from several very different musical traditions that fit powerfully into a brilliant new sound and a joy-filled celebration of international musical synergy. July 19, 2017 from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm at Fremont Park in Downtown Menlo Park. Bring a chair, a comfortable blanket, and some snacks. This concert is sponsored by Menlo Spark.

Summer Concert Series: Jessica Johnson

We welcome back Jessica Johnson to the Fremont Park stage! Jessica's style is a truly unique fusion of pop, R&B and rock. Her voice showcases a range of dimension - blending sultry tones with airy harmonics and commanding power. In addition to a unique style and sound, Jessica Johnson is an equally remarkable songwriter and producer. Join us on July 26, 2017 from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm at Fremont Park in Downtown Menlo Park. Bring a chair, a comfortable blanket, and some snacks.

Menlo Movie Series

The 2017 Menlo Movie Series films have been announced! The series will feature free outdoor movies in Downtown Menlo Park and the Onetta Harris Community Center in July-September. Be sure to bring a chair, blanket, and some snacks to enjoy, but most of all, don't forget to bring the family. Enjoy a night of watching the stars, under the stars.
