Sidewalk Fine Arts Festival

The Menlo Park Sidewalk Fine Arts Festival will celebrate spring in downtown Menlo Park on April 15-17th. This annual family event, presented by the Menlo Park Chamber of Commerce, will take place outdoors along charming tree-lined Santa Cruz Avenue off El Camino Real. This delightful spring event features an exciting array of original works by 90 artists including jewelry, photography, ceramics, painting, sculptures and much more. All of the artists will be on hand to visit with patrons, while some will be practicing their art during the show. This event is free to attend.

Western Ballet: Red Riding Hood & 40th Anniversary Gala

On April 23rd & 24th at 1pm Western Ballet will preform Red Riding Hood on stage at the Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center. You can also catch a sneak peek on April 8th at the Menlo Park Library from 7pm-7:30pm. However, that is not all for Western Ballet this month. Join them on the evening of April 23rd at 7pm for their 40th Anniversary Gala performance featuring works by Vicente Nabrada and Artistic Director Alexi Zubiria. 

Menlowe Ballet presents Collage

Menlowe Ballet’s spring season, Collage, features three world premieres by choreographers Val
Caniparoli, Gregory Dawson and Michael Lowe running April 29th-May 1st at the Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center. Choreographer Val Caniparoli is among the dance world’s most sought after dancemakers. Most closely associated with San Francisco Ballet, he has contributed works to the repertories of over 45 major companies including Joffrey Ballet, Boston Ballet, Royal Winnipeg Ballet and the Scottish Ballet. Menlowe Ballet is a professional ballet company dedicated to bringing dance to audiences throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and is a recipient of the Menlo Park Grant for the Arts. 

Kite Day

Enjoy a nice breezy day at Bedwell-Bayfront Park on May 2nd  with the family as you watch hundreds of kites fill the Menlo Park sky with gorgeous views of the San Francisco Bay. Kite Day is free to the public, but you may purchase a kite and hot dog lunch for only $6 at the event. All ages are welcome. Don't forget to bring extra water and sunblock. Come for kite flying, a picnic lunch, face-painting, and see Mega Fish (a giant 46' kite). Kite Day is co-sponsored by the Menlo Park Kiwanis Club and Streets Alive! Parks Alive!   


Violinist Philip Setzer joins Music@Menlo Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han to present a breathtaking program of three revered piano trios at the M-A Performing Arts Center on May 8th at 6pm. Haydn’s Keyboard Trio in E Major, with its masterful cantabile style, is followed by Mendelssohn’s impassioned Opus 66 Piano Trio, which offers an immediate emotional contrast of rousing intensity and restlessness. The program concludes with Brahms’s majestic, oft-times spiritual and searching Trio in B Major, op. 8.

Puppet & Magic Show

Join us for a free Puppets & Magic Show featuring two outstanding Bay Area performers: Steve Chaney and Dante on May 13th from 6-7:30pm at the Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center. Steve will delight children with his comedic puppeteering and voices, while Dante will amaze everyone with an award-winning magic performance. All ages are welcome. For 20 years Steve Chaney and his partner, “Corny Crow,” have presented their unique show for children and adults throughout Canada, from the east to west coast in the U.S. for fairs, festivals, schools and libraries. Dante, the San Francisco's 2013 Performer of the Year by RAW, an international independent art organization, is highly sought-after magician. His performances combine magic, balloon twisting, circus arts and tons of silliness!  

Magical Strings West

Magical Strings West is a California non-profit public benefit organization that offers young violinists the opportunity to participate in performances for the community with master teachers and guest artists. On May 15th at the M-A Performing Arts Center violinist Geoff Nuttall of the St. Lawrence String Quartet (Quartet in Residence at Stanford University), will be joining the kids on stage at 3:30pm for an unforgettable performance. Enjoy an afternoon of beautiful music, featuring compositions by Bach, Vivaldi, Monti, Kreisler, Khachturian, and more! This program is free to attend.
