Child Safety Seat Inspection

In this country, 4 out of 5 child safety seats are being used incorrectly. Could one of them be yours? If you are in doubt, come to an inspection event to have your child’s safety seat inspected and installed properly. Bring your child, their seat and your vehicle to a free Child safety seat inspection/installation event on March 5th from 10:00am-2:00pm at the Belle Haven Neighborhood Service Center. The Menlo Park Police Department will assist with checking for recalls, proper fit, and help with the correct installation. No appointments are needed. For proper use of a child safety seat, parents/guardians should bring the safety seat and all of its parts, the vehicles owner's manual and the child safety seat instructions to any appointment. For the latest in child safety seat information, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.

Menlo Park Grant for the Arts

The Menlo Park Community Services Department has launched the Menlo Park Grant for the Arts (MPGA) for 2016-17, which is designed for organizations looking to perform in a professional-grade theater in an effort to support the Menlo Park artistic community. Five (5) organizations will be awarded $500-$1000 toward subsidizing the rental cost of the Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center (PAC) for performances from July 2016 to June 2017. This grant was created to increase the accessibility of the PAC by members of the community and to encourage the development of local artistic groups by providing a high-quality venue at a subsidized cost. MPGA applications will be accepted until March 6th, 2016.

Passport to Parks

Menlo Park has joined a collaboration of parks and recreation departments, the Hospital Consortium of San Mateo County, county agencies and community members to bring Passport to Parks to its residents and visitors. The program encourages families to get outside and be physically active with the goal of encouraging residents to walk or bike while exploring their local parks. This is a free yearlong campaign where participants travel within Menlo Park to complete a "passport.” Find signs at three of our parks that tell you a clue or something interesting about the next park. Enjoy our parks, get active, and win fun prizes! Participate in the Passport to Parks from now until April 2016. Start your adventure today!
