[ARCHIVED] Menlo Park Reaches Tentative Agreement with SEIU

Menlo Park City Manager Alex McIntyre announced today that after almost six years of wage freezes, and nearly one year of ongoing negotiations, the City has reached a Tentative Agreement with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) bargaining unit. The Agreement includes:

  • 4.5% pay-rate increase.
  • Improved discipline appeal process.
  • Reduction in paid time off.
  • Maintains 2011 employee concession of cost-sharing CalPERS increases.
  • Commitment to address CalPERS impacts through participation in a Labor Management Committee.
The staff report containing full details is now available on the City’s website.

The tentative agreement will be considered as a regular business item by the City Council at its regular meeting on July 15, 2014, and the public is invited to comment.

SEIU is the City’s largest bargaining unit, representing approximately 134 non-sworn employees throughout the City directly delivering front-line services in our community’s libraries, street maintenance programs, police support services and recreation programs.
