The City Council has identified Menlo Park resident and former assistant city manager, Starla Jerome-Robinson as its finalist for interim city manager. The City Council will formally consider hiring Ms. Jerome-Robinson at its October 29, 2018, special meeting. Ms. Jerome-Robinson will oversee city operations while the City Council conducts a formal recruitment for a new permanent city manager.
"I am honored to have this opportunity to again serve my community as its interim city manager and I thank the City Council for this chance to work with our city staff and City Council in continuing their good work to benefit this wonderful community,” said Ms. Jerome-Robinson.
Mayor Peter Ohtaki said, “I’m very excited to have Starla back as interim city manager. Her breadth of experience and deep knowledge of the community will serve our residents well during this time while the City Council searches for a new permanent city manager.”
Mayor Pro Tem Ray Mueller said, “We’re very lucky and fortunate to have Starla come back to us during this transition to provide her talent and leadership. She is not only a talented professional and administrator, she has also been a resident and member of the community for over 35 years. She raised her family here and deeply loves the city and understands the concerns, hopes and aspirations of its residents. I’m looking forward to working with her again.”
Ms. Jerome-Robinson has over 30 years of increasingly responsible leadership and management experience in local government, including assistant city manager, finance director and other senior management positions. She previously served as Menlo Park’s assistant city manager from 2008 to 2015, and recently completed interim management assignments for the city of Redwood City and town of Portola Valley.
Ms. Jerome-Robinson earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with an emphasis in urban studies from the University of California–Santa Cruz.
If approved during the special meeting, Ms. Jerome-Robinson will start immediately, as current City Manager Alex D. McIntyre’s last day is October 29.
