Summer Puppetry Festival: Splashy Sea Saga

Sunday, August 23, 2020

Southern California's Luce Puppet Company pays a virtual visit, with a hilarious maritime adventure!

This summer, Menlo Park celebrates puppetry in its many forms, by hosting a series of puppet shows by a variety of performers from throughout the Bay Area and beyond!

This week, we welcome the Luce Puppet Company, on virtual tour from Southern California! Sail the Seven Seas with Sailor Sam and his little pal Salty as they search for adventure, treasure, and a boat that won’t sink! Enjoy slapstick hijinks and meet mythical creatures along the way: a giant octopus, a dangerous bunny, a fearsome dragon, and a rather unusual sea monkey.

About Luce Puppet Company
Elizabeth Luce built her first rod puppet when she was five years old. Some years later, after earning an MFA from UCLA in set and costume design, Elizabeth worked as a professional theatre designer for over ten years. She has also worked as a graphic designer/illustrator. She has received awards for her design work in both fields, including an Emmy for her original children’s video, The Mousecracker, an all-mouse puppet version of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. Handcrafted puppets, original stories, live, interactive performances, and child-approved fun are all signature trademarks of a Luce Puppet Company show.

This free event received partial funding support from the Friends of the Menlo Park Library.
