Saturday, January 25, 2020

Enjoy live music as the Prairie Rose Band returns to Menlo Park!

Join us for a performance of music of the Old West and of the West that never was!

Prairie Rose promises a fun, toe-tapping, sing-along-if-you-like performance of songs you forgot you ever knew, and songs you never knew at all! The band's wide-ranging repertoire that includes folk and camp songs, 1930s and '40s western swing, Patsy Cline, Cole Porter, and even audience requests.

The event is free, thanks to funding support from the Friends of the Menlo Park Library.

About The Prairie Rose Band
The Prairie Rose Band is a four-piece folk-country-Americana band that uses bluegrass instrumentation: guitar, banjo, Dobro (acoustic slide guitar) and bass. The band surprises audiences with tunes from Stephen Foster, to camp songs, to classic country, western swing, and favorites by Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Williams Sr., Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, the Carter Family and others. Prairie Rose dresses in full cowboy regalia - hats, boots, and fancy shirts - so they look as good as they sound. The Prairie Rose Band is made up of Pauline Scholten (lead vocals, guitar), George Martin (banjo, harmony), Mark Hedin (bass), and Gene Tortora (acoustic steel guitar).
