About Phuong-Mai "Mai" Blasich
Phuong-Mai "Mai" Blasich is the founder and artist of P.M.B.Q. Studios, specializing in manga and eco-friendly "Pandariffic" art. Mai began her manga career in 1993 as a contributing artist to the Antarctic Press series "Ninja High School." Since then, she has created works with Marvel Comics, Dark Horse Comics and published her own wacky manga Tea Club about a stylish catgirl and a talking bear who share a love of tea. In 2014, Mai was commissioned by the San Jose Downtown Association to create a 180 foot-long Panda Mural on N. First Street, which stretches between Santa Clara and San Fernando Streets.
P.M.B.Q. Studios created the MangaStart program to educate audiences on the history of manga and foster creativity. It's Mai's way of giving back to the community which has inspired her life and career
Additional funding for this free event is provided by the Friends of the Menlo Park Library.
