Creepy Critters

Tuesday, June 18, 2019

Join us for a Tuesday event for elementary schoolers, as Wildmind Science Learning introduces us to four of the special creatures under its care.

Join us outside the library, as docents from Wildmind Science Learning (formerly known as Wildlife Associates) help us explore the gentler side of the most misunderstood animals of the wild kingdom.

We'll dispel myths and explore the important roles these animals have in nature’s diverse web of life. Students will learn the significance of all living things even the “creepy” ones.

Animal ambassadors may include:
  • Boa Constrictor
  • Tortoise
  • Alligator
  • Tarantula
  • Monitor Lizard
This educational program is intended for elementary-school-aged children and their adults.

This event is made possible thanks to generous funding by the Friends of the Menlo Park Library.

About Wildmind Science Learning

Wildmind brings kids face-to-face with the wild during a transformative, experiential learning program where the animals are the teachers. Since 1980, the organization has provided nationally-acclaimed educational programs for children, families, and adults throughout the Greater Bay Area. At their 120-acre wildlife sanctuary in Half Moon Bay, they care for more than 50 non-releasable animals that could not survive in the wild. These amazing animals take on the role of “Wild Teachers” in more than 800 educational presentations Wildmind leads each year.
