Storyteller Kirk Waller: Sundiata of Mali

Celebrate World Storytelling Day with a master storyteller's take on a dramatic epic!

Kirk Waller is returning to Menlo Park to perform his newest piece for us!

Kirk will share a tale from the 13th century epic of Sundiata, the Lion King of the Mali Empire. He promises a fascinating story filled with history, myth, magic, violence, battles, and love, in which he will use traditional instruments as well as his dramatic cadence to help carry the tale along.

Suitable for adults, teens, and mature children in Grades 3 and above.

About Kirk Waller
Kirk Waller has been involved in theater, public speaking, mime, and storytelling for over 20 years. Kirk performs in the San Francisco Bay Area and across the nation, including the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee. Kirk received a Bachelor's Degree in English and Master's in Creative Writing from San Francisco State University. He has garnered national recognition for his public speaking abilities, including being awarded the J.J. Reneaux Emerging Artist Grant by the National Storytelling Network, receiving a Parents’ Choice Foundation GOLD award for his latest CD, But Why? Stories, Music and Songs, First Place in the Phi Rho Pi National Forensics Speech Championship and was also a Marin Arts Council Community Arts Grant recipient for his work with Fair Housing of Marin, Colors of Diversity Storytelling Project.
