Literature Book Club: Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant

Tuesday, February 13, 2018

Anne Tyler's ninth novel is the book the author considers her best work.

The Menlo Park Library Literature Book Club meets the second Tuesday of the month. February's selection is "Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant" by Anne Tyler.

In 1944, Pearl Tull becomes the matriarchal head of the Tull family when she is abandoned by her husband and is left to bring up their three children alone. Now, thirty-five years later, the children gather together to share their story.

The book was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Award, and the PEN/Faulkner Award. The New York Times reviewed it as “beautiful...funny, heart-hammering, wise...superb entertainment.”
