Water-Efficient Edible Gardening

Learn to reduce water needs for seasonal vegetable gardening and how to grow vegetables to harvest all summer long.

This class will cover how to incorporate organic maintenance techniques into water-efficient seasonal vegetable gardening, including the use of compost and cover crops/green manure.

Be prepared to go outside for a hands-on workshop! Bring gloves, a 6" minimum diameter plastic, acrylic or glazed ceramic pot and take home your own planting.

About the instructor

Suzanne Bontempo has worked in the horticulture industry for 20 years in a variety of capacities, including fine gardener, retail nursery manager, urban garden educator, and landscape designer.  She is a Garden Educator and Workshop Instructor at Garden for the Environment, as well as a representative of the Our Water Our World program in the San Francisco Bay Area.  An advocate for integrated pest management, Ms. Bontempo was recognized for excellence in her field when she received the 2013 IPM Innovators Award presented by the California EPA Department of Pesticide Regulations.
