In response to Congressional action, FEMA has re-analyzed flood risk and hazards along shorelines and coasts throughout the United States. The analysis for the San Francisco Bay shoreline was completed earlier this year and City staff submitted comments on the draft. The City requested that properties in the 1300 block of Willow Road (Gateway Apartments) be kept out of the flood zone because of a flood wall built in the 1990’s and that properties at the end of Hamilton Court be kept out because of their elevation.
FEMA will issue a preliminary map in Summer 2015 and provide a 3-month public comment period, followed by a three month appeal period.
