The Arrillaga Family Recreation Center is focusing on the importance of unplugging from technology and destressing from responsibilities of our daily lives by providing programming to combat these negative effects. Meditation, stretching and other mind and body practices have been used for centuries to help activate natural relaxation responses, increase mental agility and concentration. A 2104 study, Meditation Programs for Psychological Stress and Well-being, found that meditation can decrease anxiety and depression in participants. Some people find that learning various techniques and practicing them with a group can be especially helpful with overall stress reduction as well providing motivation and accountability for continued practice. The Arrillaga Family Recreation Center offers numerous health and wellness opportunities to assist residents with relieving their stress. Winter Session classes at the Arrillaga Family Recreation Center resume Tuesday, Jan. 2. Come join us for an exciting free trial of our newest health and wellness class, Release, Renew & Reposture Jan. 10 (spots are limited and registration is required).
