The Little Library is now open for business.  The Menlo Park Library has stocked the library with delightful books for young children.  Little Libraries are “take a book, return a book” gathering places where neighbors share their favorite books.  Little Libraries help encourage a culture of reading and increase access to books for children and families.  The Little Libraries are showing up throughout San Mateo County where children and families hang out or wait in line, places where reading and books can be a great activity.  The Menlo Park Police Department is working with the Menlo Park Library and hosting the first of the Little Libraries in the new Neighborhood Service Center at 871 Hamilton Avenue.  The libraries were created by employees from Google and Genetech who volunteered their time to Hands on Bay Area, a nonprofit that connects volunteers to “done in a day” projects for wonderful causes in the community.
