Menlo Park residents and businesses are invited to a free
Shredding and E-Waste Recycling Event. The event takes place this Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, from 9 a.m.-noon at 333 Burgess Drive. Bring confidential files for on-site shredding and unwanted electronics for proper recycling.
Residents will need to bring proof of residency such as a driver's license with a Menlo Park address or a utility bill. Businesses will need to provide a Menlo Park business license or business card.
Confidential document destruction is limited to three boxes (10" x 12" x 15") per vehicle and materials will be shredded on-site so participants can watch their documents being destroyed. Documents with paper clips, staples and binder clips are acceptable. Types of documents to bring include:
- Old tax returns
- Junk mail
- Legal documents
- Receipts
- Paystubs
- Invoices
Over 98 percent of the electronic waste received is recycled. The electronic waste collected is guaranteed to be recycled safely at local processing plants. Electronics accepted for recycling include:
- TV’s and monitors
- PC/laptop computers
- Printers, scanners and keyboards
- Computer cards and components
- Telecommunications equipment
- Chips and components
- Storage discs
- Printed circuit boards
- Fax machines and copiers
- Connectors/cables
- CPU’s, servers and main frames
- UPS poser supply units
- Mini-systems
- Cellular and desk phones
- Power supply units
- DAT/Beta/VHS Tapes
- Consumer Electronics
- And all types of electronics
- Fluorescent tubes/bulbs (limit of five per resident/business will be accepted)
