On July 18, the
Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) announced that the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Report was awarded to the City of Menlo Park for its June 30, 2016, comprehensive annual finance report (CAFR).
In their announcement, GFOA stated “The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate [the City’s] financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.”
City Manager Alex McIntyre commended the Administrative Services Department’s finance division for this achievement. “The City’s finance staff worked tirelessly on the June 30, 2016, CAFR and I’m pleased to see that their work is recognized by the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Report.”
The June 30, 2016, CAFR as well as all previous CAFRs and budgets, including the City Council adopted budget for 2017-18, are available
online.
