Current water storage as of Feb. 1, for the total Hetch Hetchy System (including local Bay Area storage) is 90.9 percent. Precipitation in January and February were exceptionally wet, and tracking above 1983, the wettest year on record. Snowpack conditions as of Feb. 1 are well above average to-date. With high current storage and a large snowpack, the
San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) expects to fill all reservoirs by July 1 and maintain a full water bank through next fall, thus they do not anticipate the need to require continued water reductions. The SFPUC will formalize this direction upon reviewing the final estimate of water supply availability in April.
The State Water Board will also meet in May to consider repealing the drought regulations based on water supply conditions.
