Police officers and staff will visit Menlo Park schools this week for Red Ribbon Week, Oct. 24–28.
Red Ribbon Week is an awareness campaign observed annually in October for alcohol, tobacco and other drug and violence prevention awareness. Menlo Park officers will be wearing red ribbons in support of the campaign to symbolize a commitment to substance abuse prevention. Officers will be presenting to junior high and high school students on the topics of drug awareness and drug prevention and to kindergarten through fifth grades on anti-bullying. Officers will be reading anti-bullying books to the younger students, engaging and interacting in activities, and providing Red Ribbon Week goodies to all students, which include pencils, bracelets and stickers.
