On Oct. 4, the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) announced that four agencies have been selected to receive the 2016 IACP and Cisco Systems Community Policing Award. Menlo Park entered the category for populations of 20,001 to 50,000 residents, and won for demonstrating meaningful change as a result of the police department and the community utilizing available resources for crime prevention and improvement of quality of life. The award recognizes outstanding community policing initiatives by law enforcement agencies worldwide and identifies agencies who are utilizing the power of community policing through collaboration and partnerships to make communities safer.

The Police Department specifically thanks the residents of the Belle Haven for being part of our collaborative efforts. This is a prestigious award and is a testament to our residents, businesses and the City’s commitment to build partnerships and relationships. It is because of a great community that we are able to work together in an alliance to continue to improve Menlo Park and utilize the community policing philosophy. Award winners will be honored Oct. 15 at the IACP’s 123rd Annual Conference and Exposition in San Diego, California.
