Public Works staff recently completed their annual maintenance and winter preparedness walk along San Francisquito Creek. The creek walk’s purpose is to spot items such as downed trees and other large debris in the channel that could obstruct water flows and pose a threat to public safety during a large winter storm. This year several items were identified, tagged and assigned to the appropriate agency for remediation. The Menlo Park tree crew will remove two downed trees that might otherwise cause problems this winter. This work is scheduled to be completed before Oct. 15. In addition, a stretch of creek near the Alma Street Bridge was identified as a problem area for trash and will be a focus of the upcoming
Coastal Cleanup Day on Sept. 17. Menlo Park is currently
seeking volunteers to help on Coastal Cleanup Day.
