Local Boy Scout Tim McBirney recently completed his Eagle Scout project at Seminary Oaks Park. With the help of family, friends and scouts from Troop 206, Tim designed, constructed and installed two picnic tables under the cypress trees along Santa Monica Avenue. The wood used for the table tops and benches was generated from the removal of a diseased redwood tree at City Hall. The wood was cured at the City Corporation Yard and with Tim’s creative eye and craftsmanship was recycled into an artistic picnic area. Tim’s leadership on this project resulted in a long lasting benefit for the environment and community.
