On Monday, Aug. 15, 2016, the Planning Commission unanimously approved the
650-660 Live Oak Avenue proposal, which is a mixed-use project consisting of 16,854 square feet of nonmedical office and 17 dwelling units. The project was approved with a public benefit bonus, with two Below Market Rate housing units as the public benefit. These two units are well in excess of the development's BMR requirement of 0.53 of one unit. Commissioners noted that the project clearly achieved the goals of the Specific Plan, and that its design and BMR component could be considered to set a high bar for other projects. The project also includes a small public plaza and all parking located in an underground garage.
