Peninsula Clean Energy will soon be San Mateo County’s official electricity provider offering cleaner electricity at lower rates. With PCE, at least 50 percent of electricity will come from renewable sources like wind, solar, geothermal and hydropower. This is nearly twice the renewable energy PG&E customers receive. PG&E will continue to deliver the electricity and maintain the power lines to homes and businesses. It is a great combination of the same reliability, but with more renewable power.
Because of the number of customers involved, all residential and commercial ratepayers will be enrolled through a three-phase process over a 12-month period. PCE began sending enrollment notifications July 19, to 20 percent of residents and all small and medium businesses across the County. Residents who receive enrollment notices will be automatically enrolled in October 2016 to receive Peninsula Clean Energy’s
ECOplus product, which is cleaner (50 percent renewable and 75 percent greenhouse gas free) and at lower rates than the electricity currently supplied by PG&E.
You may opt out of PCE and continue to purchase PG&E’s standard service. Just call toll free 866-966-0110 or visit the
Peninsula Clean Energy website to learn more. Be sure to have your PG&E bill on hand.
