Monday, June 20, marks the start of summer camp in a number of Menlo Park locations. The City provides over 20 different summer camp options through
Community Services, the
Belle Haven Branch Library and various contractors. The camp offerings range from summer reading camp for Belle Haven first and second-graders, soccer, tennis and swimming camps, Lego camp, cooking camp and science camp. Day camp options on the Burgess Campus serve children ages 2.5 years to sixth grade with our highly regarded “Summer of Service” camp and counselor-in-training opportunities for older children. In Belle Haven, there is day camp for K-6th graders each day for 10 weeks and a four-week summer leadership camp for 7-9th graders called Sky’s the Limit. Each day camp program offers games, arts and crafts, swimming at Burgess or Belle Haven pool, opportunities for parent participation and weekly field trips. Funding from a county Measure A grant covers the cost of the summer reading camp and last year's Burgess Campus day camps ended the year at 144 percent cost recovery. Staff estimates over 500 youth will participate in this year’s summer camp programs.
