Local parking lots to get electric vehicle chargers

Posted on June 18, 2016 at 6:14 pm by Clay Curtin

Menlo Park will soon have four electric vehicle chargers available for public use at two of its public parking lots. These will reduce approximately 50 tons of greenhouse gas emissions and support the City’s goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 27 percent by 2020. Partial project funding came from a California Energy Commission grant administered through the Bay Area Climate Collaborative. The chosen level-two dual-port ChargePoint chargers will supply 240 AMPs to two electric cars of any model. The planned construction schedule is late May through June 2016, and will place two chargers at each location:
  • Civic Center parking lot (between the City Hall/Administration Building and Arrillaga Family Gymnastics Center)
  • Parking Plaza 2 (Crane Street and Oak Grove Avenue)
