The 28th annual
Kite Day is Saturday, May 7, from noon to 3 p.m. at
Bedwell Bayfront Park. The event typically attracts a crowd of approximately 500-600 people for kite flying, face painting, snow cones, bounce houses and a hot dog lunch. If the wind is strong enough, the 46-foor “Mega Fish” giant kite might make an appearance. The
Menlo Park Kiwanis will help barbecue hotdogs and a number of resource booths will be available. Some of the participating groups include the
Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, the City's
Environmental Programs division, the
Belle Haven Branch Library and
Menlo Spark. Kite Day is always the first Saturday in May, in conjunction with San Mateo County’s annual
Streets Alive! Parks Alive! festivities.
