This holiday period from this weekend through New Years, motorist can expect to see special law enforcement details by the "Avoid the 23" DUI task force throughout San Mateo county. This grant funded detail is made possible by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Drunk and drugged driving remains the number one killer on roadways. This campaign strives to reduce the number of impaired drivers on roadways who pose a threat to the safety and well being of the public. Menlo Park Police Department officers will be taking part in this countywide DUI enforcement effort. There will be saturation patrols throughout San Mateo county where law enforcement agencies will be participating in roving DUI patrols and assisting with DUI checkpoints.
Motorists are encouraged to drink responsibly and to use designated drivers or public transportation. Please don't drink and drive. Have a happy and safe holiday!
