On Oct. 21, Menlo Park participated in National Bullying Prevention Unity Day in conjunction with the Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights. During the month of October, Menlo Park has been raising awareness of Unity Day and the importance of bullying prevention in the community. This includes displaying Unity Day posters in all community service facilities, providing educational bookmarks and parent anti-bullying handouts, giving orange wrist bands to all customers on Oct. 21, and encouraging City staff to wear orange on Oct. 21 to promote the importance of the day. Also, our childcare and other youth programs provided anti-bullying educational activities for the children to raise their awareness. Mayor Carlton presented a proclamation at the Oct. 6 City Council meeting to proclaim October as Menlo Park National Bully Prevention Month. The Unity Day campaign in Menlo Park was a successful effort in acknowledging the importance of bullying prevention in the community.
