U.S. 101/Willow Road interchange project receives $56.4M in funding

On Oct. 1, 2015, the San Mateo County Transportation Authority board of directors approved highway program funding recommendations for fiscal years 2016 and 2017. As part of this program, the U.S. 101/Willow Road Interchange received $56.4 million of the $64.4 million project cost. The remainder of the funds is being pursued from the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) fund from the California Transportation Commission. This would fund Caltrans’ construction management costs. In the event STIP funds are not secured, Menlo Park, as project sponsor, will need to work collaboratively with the SMCTA and C/CAG staff to help close this funding shortfall. The U.S. 101/Willow Interchange and other funded projects will improve the congested US 101 corridor to improve regional transportation options for those traveling in San Mateo County.
