The City of Menlo Park’s
water conservation rebate programs are growing in popularity and proving their effectiveness in saving water. In 2012, the City implemented programs including
Lawn Be Gone,
Conserve-A-Scape, high efficiency toilet rebates, high efficiency washing machine rebates and the availability of free water fixtures to customers of the
Menlo Park Municipal Water District. The Lawn Be Gone rebate program remains the City’s most popular water conservation program; single-family residents, businesses and multifamily developments have collaborated with the City to save an estimated 1.2 million gallons in 2014-15. Currently one month into its fourth year, the Lawn Be Gone program participation has already increased by 56 percent. The City expects an even larger water savings for 2015-2016, as drought awareness has increased statewide and residents are more concerned than ever to save water.
