The San Francisco Bay Trail board of directors recently held its quarterly rotating meeting on the Facebook campus in Menlo Park. The day included a ribbon-cutting event to recognize the recent enhancement of the Bay Trail through the opening of the undercrossing of Bayfront Expressway at Willow Road associated with the completion of Building 20 on the Facebook campus this past spring. Representatives from Facebook, the City of Menlo Park, San Mateo County and the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District were on hand to also provide an overview of other upcoming local trail improvements, including the Ravenswood Bay Trail Connection. On Sept. 1, the San Mateo County board of supervisors considers award a $1 million grant to close the funding gap for a one-half mile stretch of trail that would connect University Avenue to the Ravenswood Open Space Preserve and create 80 miles of continuous regional trails in three counties. The Bay Trail staff highlighted this project as model partnership between the City of Menlo Park, City of East Palo, and the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, as well as Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.
