The City's striping contractor will install minor modifications to the bicycle lanes on Santa Cruz Avenue between Johnson Street and Olive Street starting Monday, July 6. This work is in response to community requests for modifications to better define the bicycle lane. The work will entail adding a stripe on the outer (curb side) edge of the bike lane. Today, there is a faint spray painted line that they will be followed for the new stripe. This work involves moving all bike lane stencils closer to the buffer area. The bike lane and buffer will be 5 feet and 2 feet wide respectively, which leaves approximately 5' between the shoulder stripe and the existing gutter. Staff will monitor the installation as the modifications are made. Please contact the
Transportation Division with any questions.
