Menlo Film Contest to showcase community parks

Posted on June 28, 2015 at 12:12 am by Clay Curtin

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the National Park and Recreation Association and 30 years since July was named Parks and Recreation Month. Additionally, the California Parks and Recreation Society is continuing its Parks Make Life Better campaign. In support of these occasions and efforts, Menlo Park has designed a program intended to socially engage our community and showcase our quality of life through community parks. The Menlo Film Contest encourages community members to voice their passion for parks by answering, “How do parks make life better in Menlo Park?” in a short video then submitting it during the month of July. Top videos will be showcased at the Menlo Film Contest Screening & Awards at the Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center, Aug. 19, 2015. Individuals, businesses, friends, families, nonprofits and social clubs are encouraged to contribute by submitting a 1-3 minute video. Participants should have fun, be silly and most all, be creative! No need to be a video expert (just use your smartphone!) as amateur and professional videos alike are welcome and can win fabulous prizes! Participants who feel they need extra assistance or just want to learn more about making videos can attend a free video workshop to learn shooting techniques and tips. The workshop will take place in the Juniper Room of the Arrillaga Family Recreation Center, Friday, July 24, 2015, from 6-9 p.m. Advance RSVP required, please register online. Contest updates will be shared on the Menlo Park Events Facebook page.
