First ivy “Hike and Hack” along San Francisquito Creek is a success

Posted on May 31, 2015 at 12:29 am by Clay Curtin

On May 21, Menlo Park held its first Hike and Hack event, the first in a series of three workdays dedicated to removing invasive ivy growing along the San Francisquito Creek. In coordination with Acterra, volunteers cut ivy from the base of trees to improve the health and longevity of the watershed’s canopy. The hand removal of ivy along the creek is one of the many environmentally friendly practices of the City’s Integrated Pest Management Policy. The next two workdays are scheduled for June 4 and July 9. Volunteers can get more information and register in advance at menlopark.org/ivyhikeandhack.
