An estimated 150 residents enjoyed an evening watching Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), but with a unique twist. On May 15, the Indiana Jones Interactive Movie debuted at the Menlo-Atherton Performing Arts Center. The most common question, “What is an interactive movie?” was explained by Shannon Guggenheim of Guggenheim Entertainment before the show. “An interactive movie is not meant to make our favorite movies better, but instead, to enhance the movie watching experience.” Attendees were armed with a fedora and fun pack containing assorted items to interact with the movie. Additionally, participants were encouraged to yell-out the quotes to their favorite scenes. The most popular being, “Snakes. Why’d it have to be snakes?” Since 2013, Menlo Park has partnered with Guggenheim Entertainment on sing-alongs and quote-alongs including, Grease, Mamma Mia!, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Toy Story, The Princess Bride and Ghostbusters.
