Saturday, May 2, was Menlo Park’s 27th annual Kite Day at Bedwell Bayfront Park. The event attracted a crowd of approximately 600, surpassing last year’s attendance by roughly 100. In addition to offering kites, face painting, snow cones and lunch, the event included a couple of new attractions including bounce houses and “Mega Fish,” a 46’ giant kite. Volunteers from the Menlo Park Kiwanis helped barbecue hotdogs while volunteers from Menlo-Atherton Storage assisted families with kite assembly. Friends of Bedwell Bayfront Park offered information about the park, its wildlife, trails and events. Kite Day was held in conjunction with San Mateo County’s annual Streets Alive! Parks Alive! festivities.
