On Wednesday, May 6, from 3:30-5 a.m. facilities staff will be conducting a test of the emergency generator and uninterruptible power supply at City Hall. The test’s purpose is to verify that the emergency generator can provide electricity for critical operational needs to City Hall while the new solar electrical feeds are connected in a few months as part of the
solar panel installation project. That project is made possible by Menlo Park’s participation in the
Regional Renewable Energy Procurement effort. The test involves turning off electricity from Pacific Gas & Electric, causing a temporary loss of power to City Hall, Burgess Pool, Arrillaga Family Gymnastics Center, Arrillaga Family Recreation Center, and the City Council Chambers, as well as partial loss to the Menlo Children’s Center. The early morning test should be completed in time to avoid any impacts on public operation of these facilities.
