The Planning Commission will review a new four-unit residential project at 612 College Avenue as part of its August 18th agenda. The property is located within the Specific Plan area, at the intersection of College Avenue and Alto Lane, and would replace a partially demolished residence and garage/commercial warehouse.  The project design uses simple, contemporary forms with varying planes and projections to provide a transition between the single-family residences to the west and the more active and diverse commercial district along El Camino Real.  The three-story buildings would share a common design theme, although each building would feature unique roof shapes, colors, materials and window patterns to provide visual interest. The proposal meets the Specific Plan’s standards and guidelines as well as the base level density, which was established to achieve inherent public benefits. These benefits include the redevelopment of underutilized properties, creation of more vitality and activity, and the promotion of healthy living and sustainability.
