Police explorers begin their annual coat drive project

Posted on December 2, 2019 at 4:04 pm by Peter Ibrahim

Menlo Park’s Police Explorers begin their eighth annual coat drive. The cold and rainy weather is here, and the need has never been greater. We can make a difference in our community by helping to make sure that no one goes without such a basic necessity as a coat this winter season.

The Police Explorers are collecting new or clean and gently used coats as part of their One Warm Coat community service project through January 31, 2020. Coats of all shapes and sizes are welcome. One Warm Coat is dedicated to distributing reusable coats, free of charge, directly to local children and adults. The program is a way for you and your family to pass along coats and jackets you no longer need.

Simply bring your coats and jackets to the donation bin located in the Police Department lobby at 701 Laurel St., Menlo Park, 24 hours a day or the Menlo Park Neighborhood Service Center, 871 Hamilton Ave., Menlo Park, Tuesday - Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All coats will be delivered to local shelters, who will distribute them to those in need. You can also donate to One Warm Coat Drive online. The Menlo Park Police Explorers appreciate your help in continuing to make this program successful!

One Warm Coat is a national nonprofit organization that supports and encourages coat drives. It helps individuals, groups, companies and organizations across the country collect coats and deliver them to local agencies that distribute the coats free to people in need. More than 1 million coats have been provided to those in need at no cost since its inception in 1992.
