New signs aim to reduce cut-through traffic in the Belle Haven neighborhood

Posted on October 21, 2019 at 9:34 pm by Clay Curtin

Acting on resident requests to reduce cut-through traffic in the Belle Haven neighborhood, the City Council approved specific turn restrictions at its September 10, 2019, meeting. The turn restrictions include
  • Northbound left turn from Constitution Drive onto Chilco Street on weekdays, except buses
  • Westbound left turn from Almanor Avenue onto Hamilton Avenue from 3:30–7 p.m. on weekdays
  • Eastbound right turn from Sevier Avenue, Madera Avenue, and Carlton Avenue onto Hamilton Avenue from 3:30–7 p.m. on weekdays

On Thursday, October 17, crews installed turn restriction signs at the Hamilton Avenue intersections mentioned. The Police Department will be monitoring these and conducting educational enforcement for a period before issuing citations for violating the posted signs.

Additional sign installations at the intersection of Constitution Drive and Chilco Street will follow construction completion, expected by the end of 2019.
