Peninsula Clean Energy is again offering a popular electric vehicle (EV) discount program that saves thousands of dollars for San Mateo County residents through a partnership with seven participating local auto dealers. The program combines guaranteed savings from dealerships with Peninsula Clean Energy rebates of $1,000 for all-electric cars or $700 for plug-in hybrids. The time-limited discounts are available from October 1 through December 31, 2019.

Buyers may stack these savings with manufacturer discounts and state and federal EV tax incentives, potentially saving an additional $10,800 or more per purchase. The program also offers significant savings on leases. Driving an electric vehicle will help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, which aligns with the City’s Climate Action Plan goals. Transportation represents 40 percent of Menlo Park’s community wide greenhouse gas emissions in 2013.
